WoW Classic Is Merging Servers

World of Warcraft is closing down servers. This is something I didn't expect. Blizzard announced on WoW Classic this week that low-population servers would be closing in the near future. Anyone remaining on the server will be automatically transferred off the world at that time. The server retirement will take place on August 10.

We regularly review the population of realms and offer character transfers for realms with low populations. This is to maintain healthy populations for Burning Crusade Classic. We have also decided to retire some Burning Crusade Classic realms, consolidating their remaining players onto realms with higher populations.

All characters on these servers will be granted a free transfer, provided they are not used by the August 10 deadline. This offer is worth taking advantage of as the website notes that player characters may not be available for up to two weeks after the servers are shut down.
